FROM IMPOSTERS TO LUCIFER, INBAR LAVI DISCUSSES HER ROLES, HER PASSIONS AND HER LOVE OF PHOTOGRAPHY.

When Inbar Lavi last graced our cover in February of 2018, her hit Netflix series Im- posters was getting ready to return for sea- son 2. The dark com-
edy on which she played a stylish con artist named Maddie seemed to be on an upward trend, with fans across the globe. Fast forward a year, however, and Imposters has been canceled, and Lavi has moved on to a new series.
“To be honest I can’t say it came too much as a surprise,” Lavi says about Imposters’ cancellation, “but I was bummed nonetheless. Maddie Johnson was a dream role for me and I truly tried to give her my all, so to have it turn into numbers and calcula- tions (rating wise) there’s something heartbreaking about it. And then there’s the family: for two years this incredible cast and crew became my brothers, sisters, best friends and accomplices. I genuinely

get a bit crushed every time a project comes to an end, but that’s showbiz.”
By now Lavi has gotten used to the process though. Throughout her career she’s moved with ease from one series to the next without much time off, and this time was no different. Shortly after Im- posters was cancelled, a new role came around, one that allowed her to chime in on a very old debate.
“This is the first portrayal of Eve on television,” Lavi told us about her character on Lucifer, “so it was important for me to set the record straight. I feel like we’ve condemned our first woman for far too long. Eve is considered to be ‘the original sin- ner,’ but I didn’t see her that way. In my eyes she was brave enough to follow her curiosity. I don’t consider thirst for knowledge, sensuality or explo- ration sinful. Just think of the world Eve carries around inside her, the yearning for her own future, the courage to no longer be heavily burdened by judgement and error, the great freedom and awak- ening it allows.”
