As we enjoy the remaining stretch of warm weath- er, it may seem premature to jump into outerwear mode. However, fall weather can hit pretty quick- ly, and it’s always best to start planning your cool weather look before the dropping temperatures arrive. As the co-founders of Mackage, Eran El- fassy and Elisa Dahan are experts in cold-weather dressing. The designers launched their label in 2009, and have been creating must-have jackets and coats ever since. This month, the Mackage designer duo are feeling a shift in the air, and are encouraging women to dress accordingly.
“Our biggest outwear trends for Fall 2018 would be our cropped light-weight down jackets such as MIMI, our puffer scarves and our wool coats with a light-weight down lining,” Dahan says.
In addition to classic wool and down, Mack- age is also looking to the future, with high-tech fab- rics. According to Elfassy, the brand’s new Powder- Touch material has a fuzzy, peach-like texture and is also water repellant, while the Camo Jacquard jacket is reflective. Colour is also a major factor this season, with Dahan describing paprika as a punchy shade to keep in mind for outerwear. “It definitely adds a pop to your autumn wardrobe,” he says.
Fall days can be unpredictable, with morn- ings that call for a jacket, and afternoons that bring back memories of summer. To deal with the varying temps, Elfassy recommends heading out with a leather topper, paired with a cloak (such as Mackage’s HELINA-X wool cloak), so you can shed layers as you like. “The cloak is such a great accessory to layer and also adds warmth for those chillier fall days,” he tells us.
