TASTE OF EDMONTON
WHAT’S HAPPENING
CALGARY STAMPEDE
SHAWN MENDES
THE KING AND I
THE KING AND I
July 10 – August 12
This 2015 Tony Award winner
for Best Musical Revival comes
to Toronto’s Princess of Wales theatre in July. It’s one of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s most beloved works, and features the classic songs “Getting To Know You”, “I Whistle a Happy Tune” and “Shall We Dance.” It tells the love story between the King of Siam and
a British schoolteacher in 1860s Bangkok.
OTTAWA BLUESFEST
July 5 – July 15
Don’t let the name fool you; the Ottawa Bluesfest at the Lebreton Flats in downtown Ottawa is about more than just the Blues. Labelled as one of the top music festivals
in the world, this year’s headliners include Shawn Mendes, the Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews Band, Beck, Rise Against and Bryan Adams.
TASTE OF EDMONTON
July 19 – July 28
With more than 500,000 people attending each year, downtown
Edmonton’s annual food festival
is one of the city’s most popular, and is also the largest outdoor food festival in Canada. Now in its 33rd year, Taste of Edmonton allows visitors to celebrate all the culinary delights of the area, all
in one place. And if food alone isn’t enough to hold your attention, you’ll want to stick around for
the evening entertainment that includes free concerts from bands like Sloan, Men Without Hats and more.
CALGARY STAMPEDE
July 6 – July 15
Over one million people make their way to Calgary every summer
to attend the annual festival, and this year will be no different. Attractions range from concerts (this year featuring Elle King, Sheryl Crow, Our Lady Peace, Walk off the Earth, Lights, Billy Talent and more) to agricultural showcases, rides, shopping, parades and — of course — the world-famous rodeo.
VALLEA LUMINA
Starting July 18
Throughout the summer, you can walk a 1.5 km pathway through an old-growth forest in Whistler BC, in the middle of the night, surrounded by video, special effects, lighting and sound.
This hour-long journey tells an adventurous story to go along with the beautiful natural landscape.
