SHARP OBJECTS Gillian Flynn’s novel Gone Girl was one of the big literary hits
of 2012,
with a resurgence when the movie was released in 2014. Instead of getting
the theatrical treatment, her debut novel, Sharp Objects, is getting an HBO miniseries. The show stars Amy Adams as an emotionally troubled reporter who returns to her hometown to cover the murder of two young girls. Canada’s own Jean-Marc Vallée directs the eight- episode series.

Stephen King fans will recognize the name of this new upcoming Hulu TV series as it’s the location of many of his hit novels throughout his career.The show tells several intertwining stories based
on King’s stories, with several popular characters making appearances. Sissy Spacek, Scott Glenn, Bill Skarsgard and André Holland star.

The hit 2008 musical gets a sequel ten years later. This time Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) learns about her mother’s past (played by both Meryl Streep and Lily James) and her choosing between three possible suitors, while dealing with her own pregnancy.
DON’T WORRY, HE WON’T GET FAR ON FOOT
Director Gus van Sant is at his best when exploring human nature and our ability to surpass our weaknesses as he’s done in
films like Good
Will Hunting
and Milk. With
his latest story,
he heads down a
similar path. The
film stars Joaquin
Phoenix as artist
John Callahan, who
started creating
controversial
cartoons after a car
accident left him a
quadriplegic in the
1970s.
