When We First heAr her upBeAt and warm voice on the phone from new york, Jennifer Ferrin sounds like the fur- thest thing from an enigmatic gure. The Lawrenceville, georgia-born actress may have moved to the Big Apple, but she has clearly maintained her southern roots. her cheery, laidback spirit stands in stark con- trast to her latest character on the small screen, the serious, moody petra in the hBo drama miniseries Mosaic, a murder mystery that launches this month.
While the sunny Ferrin may be the polar opposite of her dark Mosaic charac- ter, she waxes poetic about playing petra. “i loved her name. petra, to me, makes me think of someone who is petri ed, someone who is a bit guarded and doesn’t re- veal a lot of their emotion.”

character. “that was key for
me, how to play her and who
she was,” says Ferrin, who
points to petra’s complicat-
ed family—her brother and
father on the show are con men—as con- tributing to those nuances of character.

“i adore Maya,” says Ferrin, who raves about her co-stars. “she and i have become good friends. We were all holed up in park City, utah, for many weeks, and had a lot of time to hang out with each other. We cooked
a lot, made a lot of great food, and had fun dinner parties,” Ferrin says.
As for Bridges, Ferrin has nothing but positive remarks for the 75-year-old veteran actor, whom she describes as a “father g- ure” on set. “i was so excited to work with Beau; i just love his body of work. he is the most kind, giving actor.”
Ferrin found the legendary sharon stone to be “incredible” and an “absolute genius.” in fact, our cover girl was surprised by how

much she enjoyed working with the iconic hollywood bombshell.
“she is extremely generous and funny. she is a legend. i couldn’t have had a more positive, wonderful experience working with her,” Ferrin says.
Although Ferrin shines on screen along with these big names, the Mosaic leading lady actually got her start in the world of music. “i used to play a bit of piano and
