Good Housekeeping Names Top Home Decor Trends For 2020

It’s 2020, time to refresh your home and get ready not only for a new year, but a new decade as well. You know you’ve been dying to make some changes, but sometimes it can be hard not only getting started, but also figuring out what to do. Good Housingkeeping Magazine can help, because they’ve gone to the interior designs experts and found what the top trends are for 2020. Here’s what they suggest.

Vintage Accents – Good Housekeeping’s expert suggest looking for vintage and traditional accents for a couple of pieces in your home, like what was seen in the 1800s and early 1900s.

Navy Blue – As we talked about a few weeks ago, the Pantone Colour of the Year is Classic, or Navy Blue, so pick a room, and paint it blue.

Floral Wallpaper – And where you don’t paint, you may want to look at wallpaper, and apparently floral is in for 2020.

High-Contrast Decor – Good Housekeeping recommends looking for pieces that contrast with each other, such as a white chair, complimented with a black chair.

Non-White Kitchens – Decorate your kitchen with colours other than white.

Color-Pop Cabinets – Going along with the previous trend, if you are getting rid of all or some of the white, you may want to consider strong colours for your cabinets.

Canopy Beds – Canopy beds are making a comeback, and there’s no better time to pick one up for your room. There are modern, less bulky options out there too.

Patina Accents – Not only is vintage in this year, but Patina Accents (such as clay and terracotta) are in as well.

Olive Trees – Every house needs a plant or two, and this year’s suggestion is an olive tree.

Antique Art – 2020 is the year to grow your art collection. The older, the better.

Kitchen Art – Not only is art in, but decorating your kitchen with it is in as well.

Curved Sofas – Let’s face it, traditional rectangle sofas are boring. 2020 is the year the curved sofa from the 60s and 70s makes a comeback.

Rattan and Wicker Furniture – Wicker isn’t just for patio furniture this year either. Rattan/wicker is back in 2020.

Free-Standing Tubs – In the bathroom, freestanding flat-bottomed tubs (some of which with claw-feet) are making a comeback.

Cozy Fabrics – Nothing says relaxing like a good comfy fabric, including shearling, imperfect leathers, and soft textured mohairs.
