After a woman escapes from a murder scene at a hotel, Lindsay realizes that her husband Joe may be linked to this mystery blonde, who is connected to the CIA. Joe also suddenly disappears after a San Francisco plane crash, which gives Lindsay reason to believe that he is a suspect. This time, Hodges and his partner Holly Gibney are back on the case of infamous murderer Brady Hartsfield. Although Hartsfield has spent the past five years in a vegetative state at the Lakes Region Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic, it seems that he has mysteriously awakened. The killer is now planning to destroy the entire city, which means that Hodges and Gibney must put an end to him once and for all.
