For Toronto-based foodies who have been hoping for a gourmet escape within the city limits, the Toronto Food & Drink Market is set to hit the city from April 8-10. The marketplace takes place at the Enercare Centre (formerly known as the Direct Energy Centre), which is located at Exhibition Grounds.
This year, the festival features a series of Cooking & Cheese Seminars which will teach culinary enthusiasts how to incorporate Canadian cheese into their dishes. As well, the Tutored Tasting demo stage presentations will feature highlights like hot sauce tasting, Ontario craft beer sampling and unique wine experiences.

For visitors with a craving for local goodies, Jordan, Ontario-based bakeshop Blossom Bakery will also be at this year’s market. The bakery is known for its use of homemade ingredients, farm-raised fruit and savoury treats.

The event’s Food Truck Alley also returns for 2016, and will include menu options from a number of local food trucks. Dessert lovers can tuck into cupcakes and ice cream sandwiches from Bake Three Fifty, or snack on fully loaded and fruit-topped funnel cakes from Funnel Cake Express. Meanwhile, the new I Love Lasagna truck is set to serve the traditional Italian pasta dish to guests.
Whether you’re in the mood for sweets, a meal or a glass of wine, it may be a worthwhile experience to drop by the upcoming market. Meanwhile, aspiring chefs and diehard foodies just may learn a new trick or two to perfect their own secret recipes.
