New Spring 2016 Fashion Books- Read These Trendy Titles Now
As fashionistas prepare to update their spring wardrobes, it’s also a smart and stylish idea to revamp your home library with a collection of chic reads. Whether you’re in the mood for a closer glimpse at the works of designer Isaac Mizrahi or inspired by the stunning designs at Gucci, here are a few must-read titles to pick up now.
Numéro Couture by Karl Lagerfeld and Babeth Dijan, Steidl: Although he is best known as the creative director of Chanel, Fendi and his own label, Karl Lagerfeld can also be spotted behind the camera lens as a fashion photographer. For the past 15 years, the 82-year-old German designer has shot haute couture photography for French fashion magazine Numéro. From spunky British bombshell Cara Delevingne to Canadian-born supermodel Linda Evangelista, the designer has photographed countless beauties over the years. This recently released book of photos came out on March 22, and features Lagerfeld’s most elaborate couture images for the publication.
Isaac Mizrahi by Chee Pearlman, Ulrich Lehmann, Kelly Taxter and Lynn Yaeger, Jewish Museum: The 54-year-old New York City-born designer launched the first collection for his eponymous label in 1986. Since then, Mizrahi has become known for his affordable designs and his approach to modern couture looks. This latest illustrated tome (which was released on March 29) explores Mizrahi’s insights into religion, race and politics, through fashion. It also takes a look at the American designer’s other creative work in the film, theatre and television industries.
Balenciaga: Master of Lace by Catherine Join-Diéterle and Hubert de Givenchy, Somogy Art Publishers: Recognized for his usage of elaborate lace, Spanish designer Cristóbal Balenciaga founded his fashion house in 1919. This upcoming volume hits the shelves on April 1, and examines Balenciaga’s designs from the years between 1930 to 1970. Written in both English and French, the book also aims to investigate the history of Spanish lace and the designer’s impressive career in Paris.
In the Name of Gucci: A Memoir by Patricia Gucci, Crown Archetype: As the heiress to the iconic Italian fashion house, Patricia Gucci is the daughter of Aldo Gucci and Bruna Palombo Gucci. Born out of wedlock in the 1960s to the son of the Gucci founder and his lover, Patricia spent a great deal of her childhood in isolation. However, she later rose to the top as the official spokesperson for Gucci and became a household name in her own right. In her upcoming memoir (which comes out on May 10), Patricia shares her tale of fame, discovery and love as part of the legendary Italian fashion family.
