A Rich Historical Setting

The first thing that sets the Postmark Hotel apart from your typical chain hotel is its deep connection to Newmarket’s history. This includes the beautiful clock tower that help you spot the building as you approach it. The hotel’s design strikes a perfect balance between preserving the original architectural features and incorporating modern amenities. The artwork itself, created by local artists and found in the lobby, the hallways and the rooms, are to be admired. You’ll even notice old mail hanging on the walls.

Dining Options and Amenities

After a long day of exploring Newmarket, you may not feel like exploring too far to find your dinner. Thankfully, The Postmark Hotel has you covered. Located on the rooftop of  the hotel is the Overlea Restaurant, where you can enjoy your meal while looking down at the town below. The restaurant’s atmosphere is intimate and inviting, with warm lighting and contemporary decor, and friendly staff whose knowledge of the menu and commitment to creating a pleasant dining experience truly elevates the meal.

The menu at Overlea features a thoughtfully curated selection of dishes, emphasizing fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Guests can enjoy a range ofKentucky Fried Cornish Hed offerings, from a tasty Peaches and Ricotta Salad to fantastic Humanchi Crudo for starters, to Ontario Striploin and Brome Lake Duck Breast for entrees. The “Kentucky Fried” Cornish Hen was an interesting option, but half a bird was too much for one person, and it was over seasoned. The Dill Slaw that came with it however was delicious, as was the Potato Salad. The Seared Halibut was melt-in-your-mouth tasty, but the Mint Chermoula was a little strong though.  The presentation of the food was very artful, giving the dish a beauty that enticed you to take that first bite.

The Overlea also offers a fantastic mix of wines, cocktails and beer for those looking for a little assist for a calming night. The dessert options are varied as well, so if you are looking for a little extra after the meal you are sure to find it.

The Overlea is not a large restaurant, but its intimate size adds to its charm. It’s an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or special occasion, or even just a meal before heading back to your room.
