With October marking breast cancer awareness month, the annual Boobyball is slated to hit Toronto today, and takes place at Rebel nightclub. This year’s theme is inspired by the retro 1980s and 1990s, and features a style code of big hair, pastel everything and all things neon. As inspired by Olivia Newton-John’s hit ’80s tune, Boobyball 2017’s theme is fittingly titled Get Physical. The event was first launched in 2002, by a team of friends who united to support 23-year-old Sarah O’Regan, who was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. Years later, Boobyball claims to have raised $500,000 in funds.
Running as a national event and taking place across the country, Boobyball also makes stops in Halifax, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver later this month. Since its kickoff, the fundraising event has raised over four million dollars for Rethink Breast Cancer. As every year, the event strives to celebrate healthy and active lifestyles and awareness, which reduce a women’s risk of developing breast cancer. Attendees are encouraged to come prepared for a night on the town, dressed in their vivid aerobic style gear.
