Our Ultimate Girls’ Getaway Guide To Toronto

Your weekend or vacation is here, and you know you want to get away with the girls, but it’s almost impossible for everyone to agree on what to do or where to go. Why not take a look at Toronto, Ontario’s capital and the largest city in Canada. Real Style has partnered with Expedia.ca to help you and your closest girlfriends enjoy an incredible visit to the city. From designer shopping, delectable food and exciting nightlife, a visit to the 6ix is sure to satisfy everyone from the fashionista to the party animal.

Shopping
Skip the crowds at the Eaton Centre and take a stroll down Queen Street West for some of the best shopping in Toronto. With stores ranging from big names like Zara and H&M to one-of-kind boutiques, there’s something for fashion lovers of every stripe. Hunt for vintage Chanel in any of the various vintage shops, or trade in your old duds for something “new” and timelessly chic. Whether you’re looking to treat yourself or strictly window shop, Queen West is a must for your Toronto to-do list.

Culture and Art
This one is for all the Carrie Bradshaws out there who are quite simply addicted to shoes. The Bata Shoe Museum is a one-of-a-kind exhibit that celebrates footwear from all over the world. With a collection of shoes and related artifacts in the thousands, the museum is a haven for shoe lovers. With displays ranging from Chinese foot shoes to Egyptian sandals, the museum boasts 4,500 years of history. See how footwear has evolved into the 20th-century soles we see in the windows on Bloor Street, which is where the museum is located. It’s a collection that even Sarah Jessica Parker’s Sex and the City character would envy.

Food
If you and your girlfriends have been craving a holiday in the sun but don’t have the budget,
Miss Thing’s is a little piece of the tropics in the city. This Hawaiian inspired restaurant and cocktail bar serves Pan Asian cuisine and boasts a fruity cocktail list. Inspired by Tiki culture and retro mid-century hotel lobby bars, the restaurant’s decor will have you saying “Aloha” in no time. Try the Poke Bowl or Grilled Octopus and take your tastes buds on a trip to the islands, without leaving the city limits.

Pampering
After a long week at school or work, sometimes all you and your girls need is a day of pampering. Her Majesty’s Pleasure on King St. offers all that as well as all the champagne your heart desires. From manicures to blowouts, the spa offers a number of services for you to indulge in. Guest can sit back, relax and let the bubbly take them away, as they walk away with newly polished tips or freshly styled highlights.

Relaxing
If you are looking for a little peace and quiet instead of the hustle and bustle of the city, you can even find it in Toronto. We bet you didn’t know that Toronto has a series of small islands in Lake Ontario. Not only can you relax on the fairy ride over to them, (or catch a water taxi if you want to get there quicker), but when you get there the wide open green spaces and beaches will simply help you let your hectic life take a back seat for awhile. Even when it’s busy in the summer, it doesn’t feel like it’s busy. Or if you prefer to stay in the city and still find a little calm by the water, take a visit to Queen Street East and drop in the neighbourhood known as The Beaches. Here you will find a small community within the city, and be able to walk along a 6 kilometre boardwalk that follows the edge of the lake.

Nightlife
Why not end the weekend with a bang and enjoy a night out on the town? From clubs to dive bars, there is no shortage of nightlife in Toronto. Whether you’re there for the drinks, music or crowd, there are a number of places to choose from. If you’re looking for something that has a bit of it all, The Drake Hotel is sure to impress your friends. Between the Underground, Lounge and the Sky Yard, there is plenty of room to drink, dance and mingle. Grab your girls and see how this swanky hotel in the west end transforms into a nightlife hotspot.
