This year, the Vancouver Fringe Festival kicked off on September 8, and is slated to run until September 18. The annual event features an opening night extravaganza on September 6, which is set to take place at Performance Works on Granville Island. For 2016, the opening night festivities star none other than hilarious private eye Butt Kapinski, who is depicted by comedienne Deanna Fleysher. The event will also involve hors d’oeuvres, wine, ginger beer and a chance to mingle with Fringe Festival performers.
In addition to this official launch party, visitors can enjoy the 110 shows, which include comedian David C. Jones at the Georgia Straight Fringe-For-All on September 8. Other performances include the One Man Dark Night: A Batman Parody, How To Adult: A Musical and Give It Up by local funnywoman Morgan Brayton.
If you’ve always wanted to dabble in comedy yourself, there are also numerous workshops as part of the festival. The On The Road Touring Workshop on September 13 aims to help aspiring artists master their own comedy tours, promote their craft and manage their shows.
For those who prefer drinks and socializing, the Big Rock Brewery Fringe Bar promises to complete your visit. Whether you’re in the mood for a glass of bubbly or simply among friends, the Fringe Bar promises to complete your night at the festival. Overall, the Vancouver Fringe Festival is once again set to deliver laughs, creativity and plenty of party ready energy.
