Performing the Landscape at Contemporary Calgary, September 22nd – November 12th, 2016
The exploration of landscape is certainly nothing new to the art world. Yet Contemporary Calgary’s Performing the Landscape reinterprets the classic subject by focusing on contemporary works that include elements of performance and movement, be it through theatre, video or music.

Mystical landscapes: Masterpieces from Monet, Van Gogh and more at the AGO, Toronto, October 22nd – January 29th, 2017
Rarely has a Canadian art exhibition achieved the level of anticipation that has met the announcement of the AGO’s up-and-coming exhibit Mystical landscapes. In a partnership between the AGO and the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, the AGO will become home to some of the most iconic paintings of nature – at least for a short while. Highlights of the exhibit include Claude Monet’s Water Lilies (1907) and Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night over the Rhone at Arles (1888).
Cutline: The Photography Archives of the Globe and Mail at the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, October 28th – February 12th, 2017
Revisit some of Canada’s defining moments of the twentieth century through the National Gallery of Canada’s up-and-coming exhibition. Cutline takes the viewer on a tour of the Globe and Mail’s photography archives, allowing the visitor to understand the way photojournalism operated at newspapers of the 20th century.
Walker Evans: Depth of Field at the Vancouver Art Gallery, October 29th – January 22, 2017
Walker Evans celebrates the work of the American photographer, whose iconic photographs paved the way for future documentary photographers. Of particular interest are Evans’ famed images of the American South during the Great Depression, documented on behalf of the Farm Security Administration.
