New York Fashion Week Spring 2019 Runway Looks
With New York Fashion Week Spring 2019 coming to a close tomorrow, the latest runways in the Big Apple have brought the most stunning runway trends for the season ahead. From femininity with an eccentric twist at Marc Jacobs to glamorous gold dresses at Michael Kors, the New York catwalks have showed us everything from trousers to eveningwear. As we reflect on the trends from leading American designers for the next season, here’s a closer look at a few top collections from this season at NYFW.
Marc Jacobs
Designer Marc Jacobs turned to colour, with pops of neon yellow, pale pink, peach and pastel green. The explosion of pastel hues, along with oversized ruffles, belted trousers and the occasional boxy jacket created an eclectic collection. Statement frills brought a playful finish, while fringe and metallics also added visual interest.
Michael Kors
Michael Kors turned to underwater inspired patterns for a tropical, resort-esque collection of printed blouses and pleated midi skirts, with matching floppy hats and belts. The Spring 2019 lineup experimented with bright and bold colours, from neon yellows to deep corals. Textured metallic jackets, preppy trousers and crop tops also brightened the runway and brought a sharp polish to the vacation vibes on display.
Oscar de la Renta
Co-creative directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia offered a more relaxed approach to eveningwear, without the usual dramatic ballgowns that the brand was once famous for. For next season, the Oscar de la Renta aesthetic ranged from sarong style skirt and classic white blouses to pleated halter dresses and embroidered florals. Meanwhile, bold stripes, sheer fabrics, fringe and lace were all key looks on the runway.
Anna Sui
The queen of bohemian fashion presented a vintage inspired show that stayed true to her signature design aesthetic. Anna Sui brought forward black and red floral prints, pajama dressing, sheer blouses and flowing dresses. Meanwhile, embroidery, sequins and flower power were the order of the day.
