This week, Real Style had the pleasure to attend the Laskaris Fall 2017/Winter 2018 show as part of Paris Couture Week. The show took place at Faust Pont Alexandre in the City of Light, in an intimate space with a beautifully illuminated ceiling. The series of tiny lights brightened the space and helped to create a chic atmosphere which suited the French fashion capital perfectly. Here’s our runway report on the collection, from the front rows of the show. 

Greek designer Laskaris, who hails from the island of Samothraki and is now based in Athens, presented his stunning Prisma collection in Paris. For the season ahead, Laskaris opened his show with a sleeveless black gown that featured a high neckline and embellished cut-outs. Models floated onto the catwalk in all manner of floor-length creations, detailed with sparkle and soft pleats. Meanwhile, rich ruby and burgundy shades brightened the collection, with the addition of structured fur-trimmed bomber jackets and a flowing red coat.

The overall theme of the Prisma line involved vaguely exotic touches, in the form of sequins, jewel tones and robe-like dresses. Meanwhile, traditional European influences also made an appearance, as tailored accents like a cropped cape coat topped off the looks. Along with modest black sheaths which graced the form, Laskaris’ couture runway involved an array of sheer hemlines, illusion necklines, beadwork and extravagant mesh. Femininity was also a key aspect, as dainty butterfly appliqués adorned transparent, structured white netted frocks with trailing hemlines.

From elaborate furs to silky fabrics, all manner of textures made a grand entrance on the catwalk. In true couture fashion, Laskaris revealed a collection of sumptuous fabrics, architectural silhouettes and vivid tones which immediately commanded visual interest.
