With last night marking the 2018 Academy Awards, a number of stars lit up the red carpets in all manner of vibrant couture. From perennial red carpet favourite Jennifer Lawrence to shining star Lupita Nyong’o, metallics and embellishment were key trends on the Oscars red carpet. Here’s a closer look at the evening’s best dressed celebrities.

Jennifer Lawrence

The 27-year-old actress made a splash as she arrived at the Oscars in a metallic Dior gown which highlighted her toned and trim figure. With its allover sequins, tiny straps and sweetheart bodice, the silver frock was detailed with a floor-length pleated skirt. We are loving the way the metallic tone emphasized her wavy platinum locks, for a contemporary evening look.

Margot Robbie

Australian beauty Margot Robbie was nominated for Best Actress for her role in I, Tonya, and made a grand entrance looking every inch the screen siren. The 27-year-old star glowed in an ivory column gown from Chanel’s Haute Couture collection. With its beaded crystal off-the-shoulder straps, nipped in-waistline and ruched long hem, the white dress was a striking choice for the red carpet.

Lupita Nyong’o

Fresh off her appearance in Black Panther, the gorgeous Lupita Nyong’o arrived in a gold and black Versace creation. The 35-year-old star looked like a princess, in the shimmering piece which seemed to be inspired by the fictional African kingdom of Wakanda from Black Panther. With its contrasting embellishment, sequins and thigh-high slit, this was truly a dress fit for royalty.

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock has become known for rocking the red carpets in recent seasons, and last night’s look was certainly no exception. The 53-year-old brunette beauty stepped out in a metallic Louis Vuitton number, which featured a high collar. Bullock accessorized with a gleaming box clutch which perfectly suited her outfit of the night.
