With Paris Fashion Week officially bringing a grand finale to Fashion Month, the Spring 2017 runways in the City of Light have been ablaze with gorgeous creations. At Chanel, technology and sex appeal collided on a catwalk which was decorated like a large computer.

Creative director Karl Lagerfeld unveiled lingerie inspired slip dresses, silky pink trousers and black leather jackets with traditional Chanel quilting. Meanwhile, the French luxury fashion house’s signature tweed jackets also left their mark for Spring 2017. Rainbow-coloured tweed dresses were paired with matching coats, while youthful flared skirts made an entrance in all manner of vivid hues.

At Emporio Armani, designer Giorgio Armani channelled everything from schoolgirl chic to vaguely exotic prints. Models strut the runway in boyish navy blue blazers, which were styled with matching loose bottoms. Pussybow accents, large tassels, Peter Pan collars and sheer blouses also offered a feminine yet edgy effect. From Indian elephant motifs on tops and trousers to pops of bright cherry red, Eastern designs were also in the air.

On the Valentino runway, creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli brought the beauty of the Renaissance era to his collection. For Spring 2017, this translated into plenty of flamboyant flamingo pink shades, flowing frocks and ladylike long sleeves. Voluminous skirts, lacy bodices and delicate tiers were also key tiers.

At Givenchy, designer Riccardo Tisci turned to themes of nature and femininity. The striking collection included sleeveless frocks emblazoned with fiery agate prints, oversized agate necklaces and chic black pantsuits. Fitted sheath dresses in neutral hues shared the spotlight with hints of magenta, burgundy and burnt orange.

Meanwhile, designer Maria Grazia Chiuri revealed her first collection for Christian Dior. The former Valentino creative director captured elements of ladylike glamour and sporty chic in her Spring 2017 line. Ivory-coloured fencing jackets, fitted white trousers and floaty white skirts all stole the spotlight. Sheer skirts detailed with metallic accents and black tulle hemlines were also statement looks.

At Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton’s design aesthetic was expectedly rebellious, but was also influenced by the beauty of Scotland’s Shetland Isles. Sheer crochet lace dresses and sweet floral motifs offered a girlish, ethereal look. From structured bodices on strappy dresses to cropped leather jackets, edgy yet sexy finishes were also major themes.
