At Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, Dior unveiled a breathtaking new couture collection for Fall 2016/Winter 2017.
Head designers Lucie Meier and Serge Ruffieux, who are leading the French fashion house after the departure of Raf Simons, turned to the ateliers for their inspiration. Meier and Ruffieux paid tribute to Dior’s traditional craftsmanship, in the form of sleek silhouettes and ladylike creations.
Models strut the catwalk at Dior’s couture salons in black and white looks, with this neutral colour combination setting the mood for the collection. From voluminous pleated skirts to crisp ivory pleated trousers and tailored jackets, the design aesthetic was feminine yet perfectly modern.
Meanwhile, puffed sleeves, eye-catching paisley prints, sultry hints of black lace and shimmering metallic embellishment also made an appearance. Sheer black fabrics, gold accents and delicately ruched pieces brought a finishing touch to the entire collection.
