Best Looks From Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week Fall 2016
With Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week officially coming to a grand finale today, the runways in the City of Light have revealed a breathtaking collection of intricate creations for Fall 2016.
At Atelier Versace, draping, embroidered detail and elegant shades of mint green and pastel pink stole the spotlight. Models strut the catwalk in sumptuous belted coats, flowing strappy tops and figure-flattering blouses adorned with trailing capes. Meanwhile, pops of powder blue, ruched accents and sequins brought a chic finishing touch.
On the Chanel runway, creative director Karl Lagerfeld brought showgoers into his Paris ateliers and offered an intimate glimpse of the fashion house’s behind the scenes world. This translated into cropped tweed trousers, signature Chanel jackets with structured shoulders and floral embellishment. Skirts featured voluminous yet flirty hems, with elaborate fluffy trim, embroidery and pink sequins making a splash.
At Valentino, designers Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri paid tribute to the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death in true period fashion. Staying true to the Elizabethan style of the era, models marched the catwalk in extravagant Renaissance era costumes. Taffeta capes, plenty of brocade and pearls completed the collection, with high white frilly necklines, sheer black skirts and lavish gold gowns setting the mood.
Meanwhile, creative director Giambattista Valli featured feminine frocks and blush tones as part of his Fall 2016 Haute Couture collection. Statement puffed sleeves, white lace skirts with asymmetrical hems and floaty floral frocks were all signature looks. As well, plush pastel outerwear, tiered hemlines and black tulle brought visual interest to the designs.
At Elie Saab, a modernized New York City theme led to cool, urban pieces decorating the catwalk. Black velvet was detailed with shimmering accents, with deep V-necklines, black pleated trousers and soft floor-length gowns also stealing the spotlight. For a burst of colour, gold, blush pink and navy blue also caused a sensation.
