Alexa Chung To Officially Launch Her Own Collection
While British beauty Alexa Chung may be known for her effortless street style, the 32-year-old model and style icon has an official new fashion gig. According to Fashionista.com, Chung is set to release a new eponymous line called Alexachung. The womenswear collection is slated to hit the shelves in May 2017, and will feature a line of denim, daywear and evening wear.
Fashionista.com reports that the trendsetter has also chosen Edwin Bodson to work alongside her as managing director. Bodson, who hails from Belgium and is based in London, was previously the head of Colombian label Haider Ackermann.
In an exclusive interview with Business of Fashion, Chung shared her thoughts on the launch of her upcoming ready-to-wear label.
“I just wanted the freedom to sort of make my own world, without someone else’s brand’s brief to stick to,” she said to BoF. “”That was so fun, but there are certain boundaries that come with doing something on behalf of someone else, [you] kind of have to keep within their design remit.”
Since Chung is easily recognized by her signature dark denim, collared blouses and tailored jackets, we can probably expect an infusion of androgynous and bohemian chic styles. In the past, Chung has been the face of AG Jeans, cosmetics line Eyeko and starred in campaigns for Longchamp. However, her independent fashion move is breaking ground for this English bombshell.
