With Atelier Versace officially kicking off the Spring 2016 shows at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, the runways have revealed a glimpse of sultry and athleisure inspired designs. On the catwalks, creative director Donatella Versace stayed true to the seductive silhouettes and strategic cut-outs of the Italian fashion house.
The newest line-up from Versace was officially labelled Athletic Couture, which fit the theme and the aesthetic behind the designs on display.
Versace’s latest couture collection featured bold, daring straps which accented slinky, figure-hugging dresses. Meanwhile, racerback designs and side panels brought the comfort of athletic fashion to the haute couture runways.
The label shared a few runway shots on their official Instagram account, which showcased the idea of femininity and strength that fuelled the collection. In an Instagram caption, Versace described the theme of athleticism and beauty that made a splash on the Paris runways.
“Sheer energy, pure feminine power. The #AtelierVersace SS16 collection is for women who move to the beat of their own drum. #Versace”
As for the styles themselves, they ranged from a flowing, airy white sleeveless frock to a snowy white blazer adorned with tiny cut-outs and contrasting yellow detail. With the official seal of approval from Donatella Versace herself, it’s safe to say that athleisure is to set to leave its mark this spring, even outside of the gym or yoga studio. Here’s a closer look at the latest looks from the Milan-based label.
