Perms Stage A Comeback On The Topshop Unique Runway At London Fashion Week
While the notorious perm may have once been an ubiquitous hairstyle in the 1980s and early 1990s, the voluminous spiral curls have returned to the forefront of beauty. On the Topshop Unique Spring 2017 runway at London Fashion Week, perms stole the spotlight on the catwalk.
Models walked the show with their long locks coiled into tight voluminous curls, which featured texture and slightly frizzy strands. The new perm was a decidedly modern take on the classic permanent wave, with a beach wave inspired texture.
According to Vogue, the hairdos were crafted by hairstylist Duffy, who used mousse as a key styling product. The side parted spiral curls helped to accentuate models’ facial features, while the makeup on the runway highlighted their eyes. The combination of copper eyeshadow, glowing skin and nude glossy lips completed the look.
For anyone willing to embrace the new perm, it’s probably a smart move to stick to minimal makeup and avoid an overwhelming beauty look. Here’s a closer look at the Spring 2017 take on the perm, as spotted on the Topshop runway.
