“The Kicks” Actress Monica Lacy Chats About Her Must-Have Makeup, Workout Tips And More
With her all-American good looks, Monica Lacy plays ambitious yet optimistic soccer mom Sharon Burke on The Kicks. The golden-haired actress makes a splash on the new comedy series, which is airing now on Amazon Prime. Lacy’s latest role calls for a healthy, natural-looking visage and nourished locks, which is also her beauty goal away from the screen. We spoke to the native Cali girl about her beauty bag essentials, workout regimen and her tricks for achieving well-balanced skin.
Real Style: What are your five favourite beauty products?
Monica: I’m totally into RMS Beauty. They have these little pots, there’s one called the Master Mixer and it is just a great highlighter. You can just shove it on with your fingers; it’s very easy and forgiving. Another thing I’ve discovered from RMS are these individually wrapped makeup removers. They are the ultimate makeup remover wipes and I carry them everywhere I go. You dissolve your makeup, it takes it off completely and it’s only coconut oil.
Jillian Dempsey also has these new pots. They are very versatile pieces. They are different colours and you can put them on as eyeshadow or on your lips. I tend to love Giorgio Armani foundation as well. The makeup they put on me on the show [The Kicks] is Tarte Cosmetics. I love all the lipsticks
Real Style: How do you stay fit and in shape?
Monica: I have a trainer who comes two times a week at six a.m. When I was shooting the show, I often had to leave my house at 4:30 a.m., so I didn’t get to do that. I would say that I try to hike, play tennis and do something active during the week. Even if I just walk everywhere on the weekend and take my dog with me, I’ve got to move. Now I’m rediscovering Pilates again. I think for me, I have such a short attention span; I have to keep changing it up.
Real Style: Describe your skincare regimen for maintaining a flawless complexion.
Monica: I don’t overdo it. I only wash my face once a day. I don’t ever wash it in the morning, I just wash it at night. I moisturize every night, I wear sunscreen every day religiously. I wear a hat, so I have a white face, but I’ve just been really dedicated to not getting sun on my face. Once or twice a year, I get microdermabrasion and that takes off all the dead cells. I try to find multitasking products, as I have very little time.
Real Style: What are your best kept secrets for healthy and luxurious hair?
Monica: I colour my hair, so it can get brittle and dry really fast. I try to air dry it, so that when I’m working they can use as little heat as possible. I try to get regular haircuts, and I eat a lot of vegetables, so [eating healthy] helps my hair too.
Real Style: Do you have a celebrity beauty icon?
Monica: Jessica Alba. Her makeup style is amazing, and her style in general. She has really great products, and I’ve heard she is coming out with a hair line. I know that she makes things with as little chemicals as possible also. She’s my absolute favourite right now.
