With Summer 2016 in full swing, the scorching heat is sure to have an effect on even the most lustrous and well-maintained locks. If you’re known for sporting a head of nourished tresses, the warm weather just may have a negative effect on your flawless hair reputation. However, conditioning your strands with an effective hair oil can help to maintain shine and health, even as the temperatures rise. Here are five hair oils to consider adding to your beauty collection this season.

1) Alterna Haircare Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil Dry Oil Mist, $34: As a weightless oil from Alterna, this dry oil mist claims to offer heat protection, encourage healthy locks and manage split ends. It states that it is boosted with organic bamboo extract, which claims to moisturize. The product also contains organic kendi oil, which is a combination of Omegas 3, 6 and 9.

2) Ouai Hair Oil, $35: This oil by Ouai claims to offer smooth and frizz-free tresses, can be used on wet or blowdried hair. The formula is created with ama oil (which claims to repair damage) and borage oil (which is said to eliminate frizz). Meanwhile, baobab seed oil and African galanga root extract claim to hydrate strands and shield the hair from colour fading.

3) Agave Oil Treatment, $40: Agave’s solution describes itself as a lightweight oil which is designed to seal in moisture and offer a shiny effect. The oil treatment claims to hydrate with agave sugars, strengthen with wheat proteins and condition with vanilla and coconut. It also states that it will treat the outer layer of the hair, thanks to the Madagascar baobab seed oil in the formula.

4) Philip B Rejuvenating Oil, $40: This hair and scalp treatment claims to be similar to sebum, which is found in the hair naturally and is meant to nourish it. The beauty buy states that it contains a variety of essential oils, which include olive fruit, sesame seed, peanut and sweet almond oils. It is said to revive dry, damaged tresses, and contribute to stronger locks.

5) Phyto ‘Huile – Supreme’ Rich Smoothing Oil, $53: This hair smoothing oil claims to offer shine and is designed to tackle thick and unmanageable locks. The ingredients list is said to include calendula, sunflower and rosemary oils, along with mallow extract. Meanwhile, the product itself claims to create curls, nourish the strands and encourage softer hair.
