Gold Eyeshadow Heats Up Makeup Looks This Season

As we watch late summer melt into early autumn, we can definitely expect a shift in beauty trends for the upcoming weeks. One particular makeup phenomenon which comes to mind is the return of soft gold eyeshadow, which was spotted on the runways at Alexis Mabille and Nicholas K. With its subtle metallic tone and hint of shimmer, gold-hued eyeshadow can illuminate a no makeup look or brighten a painted visage for a night out.

Alexis Mabille experimented with an intense gold smokey eye, which was smudged at the corners and featured a heavily shadowed lid. With the addition of bold brows, flawless skin and a nude lip, this approach to gold eye makeup was surprisingly wearable. Meanwhile, Nicholas K paired the slightly sparkly gold eye with dewy skin, slightly rouged cheeks and glossy lips.

For a more extreme take on gold eyes, makeup artists have also been pairing this shadow with matching lips and body paint. If you want to embrace an all-over gold makeup look, be prepared for an intensive burst of monochromatic colour. However, we are giving you fair warning- a warm metallic such as gold is best worn sparingly, particularly during the daytime hours!
