The Slick New Way To Master Beach Waves This Season
While beachy waves return to the forefront of beauty every spring as a leading hair trend, the ubiquitous carefree waves have been elevated to the next level for this season. In stark contrast to the soft tresses of previous years, Spring 2017’s wavy hair trend involves slick texture. In fact, sleek, gelled back locks finished off with wavy, wet look ends made a splash on a number of spring runways.
At Mugler, models’ locks were expertly centre parted and complete with loosely wavy tendrils that were tucked behind the ears. The J.W. Anderson catwalk unveiled a cropped, delicately curled ‘do with edgy front bangs and plenty of volume near the crown. Meanwhile, Altuzarra turned to pushed-back hair which was styled firmly in place, and juxtaposed against stringy tendrils which snaked past the shoulders.
As a change from the longer, sleeker waves of yesterday, gel and styling product played a role in crafting these hairstyles. Suiting the ‘80s and ‘90s influences on the runways, the once fuss-free beach wave was given a femme fatale upgrade. With a rebellious energy in the air, it’s clear that loose, flowing waves are no longer just for the surfer girl. From super slick to voluminous, the textures vary, but certainly share one commonality- the need for sleek, vampy tresses.
