In the new drama romance film The Light Between Oceans (which opens in theatres today), Swedish actress Alicia Vikander plays leading lady Isabel. The 27-year-old beauty depicts a woman desperate to have a baby with her husband, lighthouse keeper Tom Sherbourne (played by real life partner Michael Fassbender). The couple then rescue a beautiful infant from a rowboat, near their home in Western Australia.
We are certainly loving Vikander’s beautiful curls in her latest period film, which is set in the post-World War 1 era. If you’re eager to embrace a vintage inspired hairstyle this weekend, here’s how to get a similar look now.
1) Start off by curling your locks: To achieve a head of loose, romantic curls, use a one-inch barrel curling iron to curl each section of your hair. Add hairspray to lock your curls in place, and prepare for the next step of the hairdo.
2) Lightly backcomb your curled tresses: Use a comb to bring volume to the back of your hairstyle, by carefully backcombing your styled locks. Lightly bring your fingers through your tresses, in order to achieve natural-looking body and texture.
3) Pin your hair into a half-up hairstyle: For a finishing touch, use bobby pins to carefully secure your strands into a half-updo. Bring segments of hair from either side of your hairdo into a twisted style, and then spritz your locks with a finishing spray. This will help to hold the style, and leave you looking gorgeous all night long. For an extra special effect, add a floral hair ornament to your half-up and half-down ‘do, to channel a true vintage bombshell.
