From our eyelids to our lips, beauty mavens are used to adorning every inch of their faces with hints of sparkle and colourful tones. However, the latest unexpected makeup fad takes beautification to an entirely new level. Surprisingly, ear makeup has surfaced as the newest way to sport shimmer and showcase your love of metallic hues.

For Spring/Summer 2016, painted earlobes made a splash on the runways at Anthony Vaccarello, Louis Vuitton and Opening Ceremony. While most of us weren’t expecting to see ear makeup shift away from the catwalks, it seems that glitter-flecked ears are now officially cool.

On Instagram, experimental makeup junkies are adorning their earlobes with hints of silver and gold. With statement ear jewellery already en vogue, ear makeup can be an alternative to sporting a funky ear cuff on a night out.

While ear makeup may not be an appropriate or suitable look for everyone, we can see it lighting up the dance floor on a Friday night. If you prefer the no makeup look and tend to go for understated beauty statements, this trend may be one to skip!
