As Raven and Mystique in the hotly anticipated superhero flick X-Men: Apocalypse (which hits theatres today), Jennifer Lawrence plays a shape-shifting mutant. Despite her edgy role, the 25-year-old actress also manages to look effortlessly seductive in the film. We are admiring her blond beach waves, which are carelessly scraped back into a low braid, along with her darkly lined eyes. If you’re wondering how to achieve J.Law’s beauty look from the movie, here’s how to channel your inner superheroine now.
Makeup
1) Use light coverage foundation to prepare your visage: To start off your makeup look, use a kabuki brush to apply light coverage liquid foundation to your face.
2) Fill in light or sparse eyebrows: If you have naturally light or sparse brows, use a brown brow powder to enhance the look of your eyebrows. You can also accentuate thin eyebrows by subtly applying brow mascara.
3) Emphasize your eyes with dark liner: In order to achieve an inspired eye makeup look, use black eyeliner pencil to outline your upper and lower eyelids. For a femme fatale style effect, try carefully smudging and blending the eyeliner. Add a double coat of black mascara to your lashes to complete the look.
4) Complete your makeup look with a pale pink lip colour: With most of the focus being on the eyes, wrap up your look with a hint of petal pink matte lipstick. Stick to light, au naturel tones to highlight a soft pout without an overwhelming dose of colour.
Hair
To kickstart your beach waves, use a curling wand to loosely curl your sleek and tangle-free strands. Gently wrap sections of your hair around the wand, and hold in place for a few seconds. Once you’ve crafted a head full of soft curly locks, carefully run your fingers through the curls to create girlish beach waves. To create volume at the crown, you can also backcomb your strands for a slight boost. Finish off your hairstyle with a spritz of hairstyle to seal in the style. Next, try loosely braiding the beach waves into a low, loose plait at the nape of your neck.
