In director Craig Gillespie’s new adventure disaster flick Disney’s The Finest Hours, Holliday Grainger stars as Miriam Webber. The 27-year-old actress plays the fiancé of Coast Guard hero Bernie Webber (who is played by leading man Chris Pine). In the film, Grainger stuns with her retro inspired beauty statement, which instantly brings us back to the 1950s. If you’re looking to bring vintage glamour into your own makeup and hair, here’s how to achieve her look now.

Makeup

1) Apply sheer foundation for a soft, glowing complexion: To copy Miriam’s flawless visage from the movie, start off by preparing your own skin with sheer coverage foundation. Use a kabuki brush to carefully and evenly apply the product. If needed, use concealer to hide dark circles or pesky blemishes on your skin.

2) Use light brown eyebrow pencil to define your arches if needed: If you have thin or sparse brows, use an eyebrow pencil to gently fill in your brows for a dark, defined look.

Once you’ve secured your locks into a half-up and half-down style, use a ¾ inch curling iron to curl your loose tresses. Use bobby pins to pin back the curled locks near your temples, and then continue to style and hold your curls in place with the pins. Once you’ve curled your entire head and removed the pins, gently brush out your locks with a paddle brush and use a comb to adjust your easy new curls.
