In director Andrew Renzi’s new drama film The Benefactor (which opens in theatres today), Dakota Fanning stars as Olivia, the young pregnant wife of an up-and-coming doctor (played by Theo James). With her shoulder-length blonde locks styled into soft curls, the 21-year-old actress looks naturally and effortlessly beautiful in her new role. If you’re looking for a simple and wearable hairstyle, here’s how to channel her character Olivia’s look from the movie.
1) Start off by styling your locks with a curling iron: To launch your hairstyle, begin your look by carefully curling your tresses and creating loose, soft curls all over your head. Add a hint of extra curl on the ends for a hint of volume and texture.
2) Gently pull your curled hair back into a half-up and half-down style: Once you’ve crafted your subtle curls, pull the face-framing sections of your hair back into a ladylike half-up hairstyle. Use a hair elastic to hold your style in place, and be sure to hold back your stray locks with bobby pins if you have thick or stubborn strands. Leave a few strands hanging loose on either side of your visage for an ethereal look.
3) Loosen your clipped back strands for a volumizing effect: To bring the focus up to your crown and to create volume, slowly loosen your pulled-back half ponytail for a loosened effect. Pin back the flyaway strands using a few bobby pins.
4) Finish off your look with hairspray: For a finishing touch, spray your curled hairstyle with medium or high hold hairspray to lock your softly falling curls into place.
