Dunkirk
After years of watch-
ing the men don the
cape and tights and
take the lead in every su-
perhero movie released,
Gal Gadot is ready to
charge into battle in the
rst solo female super-
hero lm. And the timing
couldn’t be better. Won-
der Woman leaps onto
screens across the globe
on June 2nd, just in time
for her 75th anniversary.
Wonder Woman’s origin story isn’t as well-known as her male counterparts, so her rst solo movie will trace the Amazonian’s in- troduction to the world as she leaves her homeland to help ght the Germans in World War I. She’s not the only strong woman to grace the screen this summer, however.
Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning, Kirsten Dunst and Colin Farrell star in the re-imagining of the 1971 Clint Eastwood western The Beguiled. The lm by So a Coppola is told from the female per- spective this time around, but the story about the residents of an all girls school taking in a wounded Civil War soldier remains the same. The women have been sheltered from the outside world, but the soldier’s presence in their house starts to turn their lives upside down. It’s due to hit theatres on June 30th.
Fresh off his Academy Award win for Best Actor, Casey Af eck is back in another low-budget lm. A Ghost Story was shot in secret over the summer of 2016, and features Af eck as a recently deceased ghost wearing a white sheet who tries to reconnect with his grieving widow, played by Rooney Mara. If

you don’t like horror movies, don’t fret; this ghost story isn’t
out to scare you. It’s a drama focused on legacy, love, loss and the meaning of life.
Speaking of legacy, Christopher Nolan’s latest lm, Dunkirk, puts the spotlight on a World War II battle that had allied sol- diers from Belgium, the British Empire, Canada and France sur- rounded by the German army, before they were evacuated. The historic event is told from three military perspectives: that of the infantry on the beach, their evacuation by the navy and the Air Force that took part in a erce battle above it all. The cast includes Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh, as well as pop star Harry Styles in his rst movie.
And nally we come to the movie they said could never be made. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower is a multi-genre, multi- volume series that the writer considers to be his magnum opus. Real Style cover girl Katheryn Winnick stars alongside Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in a story that has a gunslinger pursuing a man in black across the desert and multiple realities, as he searches for the fabled Dark Tower that he hopes will help him save his slowly dying world.
