years in the industry were filled with inse- curity and fear. She recalls a particular in- cident in los Angeles which left her shak- en. “i remember calling my mom. People were running red lights following me in my car, and i was like 19 years old. i didn’t want some creepy old man knowing where i lived. i was going in circles, driving be- cause i was so scared to stop and go home. i didn’t want him to know where i lived.”
the actress remembers coping with so- cial anxiety and the pressures of fame, and even spent one year escaping hollywood during the height of her popularity. “in toronto, it was super chill. But then get- ting catapulted to an insane level of fame with 90210 was a huge transition. it was definitely a major struggle for me,” she ex- plains.
however, her attitude toward living in l.A. completely changed when she met her husband, 31-year-old english folk singer Josh Beech. the actress tied the knot with Beech in 2013, and claims that meeting him completely altered her relationship with showbiz. “i felt that i had this major grounding source in l.A. that i lacked for those four years without him there. i thank god for him every day, because i don’t know what would have happened to me.”
Being grounded seems to be one of the star’s major values. despite the fame that she has attained, grimes-Beech still loves coming home to toronto. “When we were here filming the show, we went and got lawn seats at the Budweiser Stage. i don’t even remember who we were seeing, but it didn’t even matter, because it was so much fun. i brought a blanket and sat out there,” she recalls.
fesses that she would love to work with 24 star and fellow Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland one day. of course, she also has her blog keeping her busy, as she awaits her next on-screen adventure. in the mean- time, viewers can tune in to watch her on The Detail.
