At 28, the toronto-born grimes-Beech has moved past her early days as dar- cy edwards from Degrassi: The Next Generation. no longer play- ing the girl next door, the proudly Canadian actress has a new role as detective Jacqueline (Jack) Cooper on CtV’s The Detail. this time, grimes-Beech returns to the screen as a femme fatale, marking a new, grown-up phase of her career.
“Jack is a cool cat. She does her own thing and she is unapologeti- cally herself. She is a bit of a re-
bel. i like to say that she is a rebel with a cause,” grimes-Beech tells us. the star is back in her home- town for the day, which gives her a chance to take stock of where she is in life right now and what she has achieved.
Perhaps best known for playing preppy Annie Wilson on the CW series 90210 from 2008 to 2013, grimes-Beech is now depicting her first ever mature adult on the small screen. Shifting away from her young characters of yesterday, the seasoned starlet is officially coming into her own. in fact, she has more in common with the edgy, hardened Jack than with the all-American girl Annie—and isn’t afraid to admit it.
