“The main things that draw me in are the story and the role,” Nichols tells us. “Is it something I’d like to see, something I’d be interested in watching and being a part of, and then, do I like the character? I like to do roles that interest me, where I can relate to the character in some way and understand what they’re about, what drives them, what they are after and how they are going to get it.”
In Riverdale, Nichols’ character has had quite the story arch over the course of three seasons. From ar- riving in Riverdale looking for a fresh start with her daughter Veronica, to becoming mayor, dealing with her

One thing that is known however is that the first episode will pay tribute to Luke Perry, who passed away earlier this year. While the char- acter will be missed on the show, the actor behind the character will be missed even more.
“Working with Luke was so special to me,” Nichols says. “Here’s this guy, this icon who has been perform- ing consistently for the better part of 20 years and he’s so welcoming and genuine and caring. My favourite part
