have the freedom of anonymity to just go out and try stuff out, that you need to do in your 20s,” she muses.
eventually, the stress of stardom took its toll on Morgan, who recalls struggles with anxiety and depression. Thinking quickly, the ambitious young actress decided to see a therapist to help her find peace and positive energy.
“i was scared, sharing everything in my head and my secrets with a complete stranger. it was almost like when you clean out your room, and
a political drama. i kind of want to try it all out,” she says enthusiastically. Morgan, who jokingly tells us she “probably wouldn’t have a job,” if she weren’t an actor, is also open about her passion for journalism and politics away from the screen. Perhaps this is why she finds herself inspired by legendary star Meryl Streep, and was understand- ably “starstruck” after once running into oprah Winfrey.
With such a jam-packed schedule and mounting screen credits to her name, how exactly does Mor- gan find time for herself? We’re surprised when we hear that the energetic star loves meditation, but also intrigued when she compares the stillness of meditating to exercise.
“i love exercise, running, that’s moving medita- tion. Anytime there is repetitive motion, that can be meditation,” she says. To stay fit, Morgan keeps up a diverse, balanced fitness regimen, and loves kickboxing and Muay Thai. But perhaps her big- gest health tip is one that is in fact quite simple and well known. “i drink a gallon of water every day. it’s so good for you. it’s good for your muscles, your brain,” she says.
Still, good habits aside, Morgan confesses that she has a sweet tooth, but tries to limit herself from over-indulging while at work. “They have free food everywhere on set. Then you have catering, and they make full-on five course meals. You’re bombarded by donuts, tiramisu and it’s absolutely insane. i found the best way is to set a plan for yourself.”
Setting a plan seems to be key for Morgan, who echoes the strength of her iconic The 100 character, even when she is off duty. Although L.A. is now home, she wants to travel to Rome and egypt in the future. Perhaps Morgan is a regular 20-something after all? But then she steps into Hollywood mode again, and mentions possibly starring in a good friend’s upcoming film, and we suddenly remem- ber who we are talking to. This is Raven Reyes, after all, and it seems that her future in showbiz is going to be nothing but kickass.
you’re cleaning out everything in your closet, and you don’t get it all out, something is at the bottom of the floor,” she explains.
Fast forward to today, and Morgan is well on her way to achieving the Hollywood dream. While she earned her name playing Raven, this creative soul is not limited to science fiction and mystery roles. Her upcoming parts include playing aspiring dancer Debbie espinoza in director edward Burns’ Summertime. Set in the 1980s, it follows the tale of four young couples in Long island, and is based on Burns’ summer after high school graduation.
The multi-talented Morgan, who is a former col- lege newspaper reporter and an artist, is also set to appear in a musical project.
“i desperately want to be on a sitcom and on
